Christmas by Candlelight at Old Sturbridge Village
You have a lovely voice. Saving to a playlist so I can learn this beautiful song.
Bet I got most all beat I was there on a class trip 50 years ago in the 1970's amazing it still exists remember the Pewter maker and candle maker and the Rock Candy on a stick. I wish I still lived on the East Coast just so I could show my 11 year old daughter ( don't ask😄) some things don't change except the time.😄
What a well-behaved sheep. Thank you for keeping them cool each summer!
It wasn't a volcano. It was Queen Elsa! What do you know, "Frozen" was real! (Kidding, of course).
If you realize the music you can hear it in the background
In a book called, The promise land: a novel of Cape Breton, by Bill Conall, this lament by Neil Gow was mentioned. Thankfully, I looked it up and heard this beautiful rendition of his work -Thank you both!!
The school sucks. I go there. They act so nice but rlly they are b****
I was the short haired girl who road the horse carriage

Easier to fold than a modern fitted sheet? What isn't?! 😉
So true!
Happy memories
How do you get it to look so old?
Excellent addition to The Collection! Excellent playing as well, Tom.
Fantastic addition for OSV
Awesome info! Great presentation!
Very interesting… thank you for this interesting video.. I hope to go there this summer as I live around 45 minutes away… always a great place to visit ❤😊
Thank you for the kind words of support! We are glad you enjoyed it and look forward to welcoming you over the summer!
Went here on a class field trip as a kid in the 90s. So happy to see it's still around, I'll be bringing my kids around to experience it for themselves.
Hi Brittany - that is a fascinating topic, which I'd never known before. Thanks for the detailed explanation, and presentation of the examples we have in the Collection. Tom M.
Thank you for such interesting information.. it was very informative
Thanks very much, I love this interpretation with the subtle guitar accompaniment, beautiful. What a great advert for the museum.
😊
It appears to me that the doodling on the back of the painting of the young girl in satin appears to be a preparation for a painting of a water wheel that would power a grist mill.
Great video! Is there anywhere online we can connect with Rae to follow more of his work?
His fellowship is now over, but he still does some work with us. You can contact our Historical Clothing department at historicalclothing@osv.org.

My Mom loved this place !!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤!!!!
This was so good! And I started to wonder as I listened if this would loop back to the Dexter-Russell knives made in Southbridge and it did! Another great video OSV!
I love these videos that welcome the public into the archives and areas that for the preservation of the items would not make it wise to allow visitors into. Thank you for taking us behind the scenes to see that which would typically not be available.
ad is too long
I love this place!
Lovely!
Beautiful video.
Love it.
Beautiful as always!
Third.

I mean I go to the school
There is a school there I go to that school I visit that Across the parking lot from my school
Can I go to that school lol
Soulful music. Thanks both.
This is a fantastic video! Though, If I may give advice, I would have mentioned the field music (fifes and drums), which were very important and participated in parades during the era. Also, brass bands were militia bands as well. The instrumentation of a militia band could vary. Woodwind bands (with horns and trumpets) were usually referred to as "harmoniemusik," though that name was falling out during the 1830s. Brass instruments would take their precedence in military bands by the 1840s because they projected further than woodwind instruments. I say this just to share the knowledge of music during the era and not pick at anyone. Thank you for an informative video!
As a spinner, I love that you guys have all these wheels and keeping them maintained! I have a 200+ year old great wheel that I need to do some fixes for, as it was just not as well loved as it needed to be. I started spinning in my 20’s and just fell in love. I’m only 39 now, and where I started with a drop spindle, I now have several different types of spinning methods, and weaving looms. If they had taught us how to do stuff like this when we were kids I’d have known at a young age how much I love it. Wouldn’t have wasted decades finding my niche in the world.
Nicely played! Excellent bow-work. Seeing it played always adds to my enjoyment of music. ENCORE! (please)
Love the fiddle. I guess that is why I like Jim's Red Pants - more luck to us all so much.
Oh yay! Like we don’t hear about black ancient history everywhere else!
